outside looking in
last week, david snapped a few shots of us from the patio looking into the living room window.
dillon was painting his relief map of california.
elijah was coloring.
micah asked me to take pictures of some of his "schoolwork" and share it here. these are from early in the year when we read a nature story from oak meadow kindergarten about "the prince of the forest" and made some leaf rubbings.
he drew this picture after hearing the story of saint martin in november.
here's his "B bear".
st. george fighting the dragon.
an "F fish" from beatrix potter's "the tale of jeremy fisher".
and his sweet drawing of the four seasons for the number 4.
nice work, micah!
nice work, micah!
recipe for a great saturday
start the morning with more sunshine peeking through the trees than usual.
head to the beach with snacks, soccer ball and frisbee.
smile when you see the waves crashing up ahead.
settle in a nice spot in the sand next to a cool flag.
i wonder what that flag is for, anyway?
run around. dig. play. climb.
holy cow! skydivers are landing on the sand right in front of us!! that's what the flag was for.
happiness.
and more skydivers.

i've been finding some really great, inspiring links lately and thought i'd share them here:
- donna simmons is talking about the need for little ones to be home- and family-based
- wonderful reminders from miss faith (rahima baldwin's daughter) over at joyful toddlers
- keeping the vision with inspiration like this
- and a helpful article from oak meadow
happy homeschooling!
